How Do I put Progeny details in? Answer: This is very simple. The progeny Screen is automatically generated via the SIRE and DAM details on an animals details (both must be included). When you are looking at the Progeny details, the system looks for any animal that has the SIRE or DAM as that particular animal and then generates the Progeny list. This screen is not updateable.
How many animals can I put in the system? Answer: Breed Trax can have an unlimited amount of animals and records added to the system.
Question: Why won't the progeny be shown when I select the Progeny button? Answer: For all progeny of an animal to be shown, both the SIRE and DAM are to be included on an animals details. If however, you don't know who the SIRE was, a dummy record can be created in the system to indicate that the animal has a SIRE but details are unknown.
Question: How Do I enter SIRE and DAM details? Answer: In the Animal Maintenance Screen, to enter a SIRE or DAM on an animals details, the SIRE or DAM must be in the system already. If they are not they will not show up in the list box for SIRE or DAM, therefore you will have to create details for that SIRE or DAM.
Question: What if the SIRE or DAM is not an animal that I know or own? Answer: For an animal that you didn't know, you would simply enter a "Dummy" animal ie: animal name of "Unknown". But you still need to add the details regarding Date of Birth, Breed, Sex and a Status eg: Other. For an animal that you didn't own but you knew its basic details eg: Name and Date of Birth, these need to be entered.
Question: What If I don't know their Date of Birth? Answer: In this case you would enter a dummy date for example: 1/1/1980. A date of Birth MUST be entered on every animal. Question: The Gestation period on a joining doesn’t calculate properly? Answer: This is probably caused by the fact that your PC may not be set up with the correct Australian Standard Date. To check this, select the "Start" button from your desktop then select "Settings" – "Control Panel" – "Regional Settings". In regional settings select English(Australian) as your region, then go to the "Date" tab and make sure your short date style reads DD/MM/YYYY. If this doesn’t solve your problem, please contact the Help Desk immediately.
